NFL analyst says this 2025 WR prospect 'should' be on the Rams

The Los Angeles Rams are preparing for an enhanced version of their offense in 2025.

They replaced Cooper Kupp with Davante Adams, still have Puka Nacua and Jordan Whittington and retained Tutu Atwell to fill out the position room. But, that doesn't mean general manager Les Snead and head coach Sean McVay should rule out drafting a receiver with the No. 26 pick if a good one falls to them.

One receiver that Yahoo Sports' Matt Harmon believes would be a perfect fit for the Rams' offense is Texas' Matthew Golden. Harmon noted that Golden's ability to run in-breaking routes and play vertical would be an ideal addition to the Rams' passing game. However, the Rams might not have room for that type of pass-catcher anymore after adding Adams.

"When I watch Matthew Golden, this guy should be an L.A. Ram,” Harmon said. “I know he probably won’t be because they signed Davante Adams …  I think really well in like the routes they ask of their complimentary receivers.”

Golden also might even be available with the No. 26 pick. He has a 30% chance of falling to the Rams' pick, according to ESPN, which doesn't inspire a lot of confidence given other teams have bigger needs at receiver than L.A.

The Longhorn wideout ran a blistering 4.29 in the 40-yard dash at the NFL combine and finished with 987 receiving yards and an SEC-leading nine receiving touchdowns this past season on 58 receptions. Golden would immediately fall into the No. 3 receiver role on the Rams, but Adams is getting older and only on a two-year deal.

Adding Golden would be a risk, but also one that is both a great short-term play as the Rams make a Super Bowl push and a long-term one to fill out their depth chart for the future.
