Les Snead didn't shut down the idea that the Los Angeles Rams could draft a quarterback as early as the No. 26 pick.
The Rams general manager told reporters during the annual NFL owners' meeting that the Rams are "always open to drafting a quarterback," per The Athletic, but also wouldn't say for sure if that was in their plans for the 2025 NFL Draft.
Snead was pretty coy in his answer, though, and added that just because the Rams are interested in the possibility of drafting a quarterback doesn't mean they'll reach on a player or move up if other teams also express interest.
“Usually another team who gets into that more serious level usually drafts that player earlier than we [would]," Snead said. “If a team really thinks that player is their next QB, it’s not like they’re going, ‘Hey, let’s wait till the middle of the second round. Let’s do it now.’
"If the right guy fell to No. 26, and maybe he’s the right guy for another team, they might want to move into the first round [and] draft that guy. So maybe that is better for the Rams than picking that ‘right’ guy. That’s how to honestly answer that question. And then to be honest about the dishonesty, if we were really looking at a QB at No. 26, we would probably say an answer like that.”
Make of that as you will, but it reads more of an "anything is on the table" answer than a "yes" or "no" to the quarterback question. Snead has talked about adding a young quarterback recently, though, with Matthew Stafford on the tail end of his career. However, as Snead said, finding and drafting one is easier said than done — especially when the Rams are looking to contend in 205.
The Rams have been tied to a few quarterbacks throughout the draft. The biggest one is Ole Miss' Jaxson Dart, who is expected to be the third quarterback drafted after Cam Ward and Shedeur Sanders.
But, for now at least, the Rams aren't giving away their secrets or plans for draft night.
