Cornerback will likely be a target for the Los Angeles Rams at some point in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The team's passing defense ranked in the bottom of the league this past season, and current depth chart at the position remains identical to the one it had in 2024.
While the Rams could draft a cornerback in the first round, they might covet a different player with the No. 26 pick or not like any of the cornerbacks left on the board. A trade up is always a possibility, but the Rams only have two top-100 picks and will be making most of their selections on Day 3.
If the Rams don't snag a cornerback in the first round, ESPN's Jordan Reid believes L.A. should draft Tulane defensive back Caleb Ransaw in one of the later rounds.
"The Rams need to draft players who are ready to play right away," Reid wrote. "Ransaw is an athletic plug-and-play option. He has gained experience at multiple secondary spots and has the potential to play on the perimeter or even transition to safety."
According to Pro Football Focus, Ransaw played mostly in the slot at Tulane and Troy over the past two seasons. However, he also saw action at corner in 2022 for Troy and he's also played snaps as a box safety and a deep safety during his time in college. Ransaw finished with just one interception and one sack in 47 games but added 115 combined tackles, 10 tackles for a loss and eight defended passes.
The 6-foot, 196-pounder has a ton of experience and fits the build of a quality defensive back. It remains to be seen, though, how late in the draft the Rams want to wait on a position of obvious need.
