NFL analyst says Shedeur Sanders is better off on Rams than Giants

Colorado quarterback Shedeur Sanders is perhaps the most polarizing player in the 2025 NFL Draft.

He's been speculated to go as early as No. 2 to the Cleveland Browns or No. 3 to New York Giants, to out of the first round entirely. However, ESPN radio analyst Evan Cohen believes him falling to the Los Angeles Rams might be among Sanders' best-case scenarios — especially if the other option is the Giants.

"If he’s still available for the Rams, there’s an argument for going to the Rams at 26 would better than going to the Giants at 3," Cohen said.

The reasons are simple: The Rams wouldn't required Sanders to start immediately and he'd get to learn behind Matthew Stafford with Sean McVay as his head coach. That's a nice development start for a young NFL quarterback. This scenario could unfold, too, after one pundit picked Sanders for the Rams in a recent mock draft.

Meanwhile if he went to the Giants, Sanders would be sitting behind Russell Wilson and Jameis Winston — two polarizing quarterbacks themselves — but could be thrust into a starting role at any minute. Plus, the Giants coaching staff led by Brian Daboll is on thin ice and could easily be replaced in a year. That would likely negatively affect Sanders' development with having to potentially learn a brand new offense with a new coaching staff in his second season.

The only major difference between the two draft spots is money. The No. 26 pick would make significantly less money than the No. 2 pick in their rookie contracts. But, at the end of the day, where Sanders ends up isn't necessarily up to him, even if his father, Deion Sanders, would like it to be.
