Report: Jaxsdon Dart, not Shedeur Sanders, may be second QB drafted in 2025

We're weeks away from the 2025 NFL draft, and there isn't a player who has seen his stock seemingly rise more than Jaxson Dart. We've seen rumors amount to nothing before, but it'd be negligent to disregard the reports surrounding the Ole Miss quarterback. He's been linked to the New Orleans Saints ever since the Senior Bowl.

Most recently, ESPN's Jeremy Fowler reported teams are wondering if Dart is trending towards being the second quarterback off the board, ahead of Shedeur Sanders: "There's even talk in some league circles that he could go ahead of Shedeur. I have a hard time believing that at this point, but teams are at least wondering whether he could jump that high."

The Saints fall in a range that could make this wonder into a reality. It feels really unlikely Dart would see his stock rise to a point where he's picked any higher than ninth. Most likely, a scenario of Dart being selected over Sanders would lead to both quarterbacks being selected in the middle to late first round.

Teams contemplating if this will happen is a sign of Sanders' stock dropping, as well as Dart's surging. Teams are raving about Dart. Fowler mentioned he's "a hot name right now when you talk to teams, they bring him up unprompted."

Dart going high wouldn't be as surprising as it was two weeks ago, but him jumping Sanders would certainly as shock the draft. It would represent a massive jump during the pre-draft process by Dart. He's worked his way up from being discussed as a Day 2 selection to a fringe first round pick, to possibly the second quarterback off the board.
