College basketball analyst states Spartans should be top 10 team entering next year

The season ended just one day ago, but it's never too early to look ahead to next season. Especially, if it's a positive review of the 2025-26 Spartans.

Following the Spartans' loss to Auburn in the Elite Eight on Sunday, the CBS Sports crew were discussing the outlook of Michigan State next year and Jon Rothstein had some positive remarks. Rothstein stated Michigan State should be a "top five to 10" team entering next year if they can retain most of the roster as is currently looks.

Additionally, Rothstein noted that a big impact on the Spartans' roster next year will be whether star freshman Jase Richardson decides to turn pro or return for his sophomore season. Richardson is currently projected to be a lottery pick in the NBA Draft and is expected to leave after his one stellar season at Michigan State. But he has, for now, at least left open the door for a return.

Regardless of Richardson's decision, Rothstein still likes what Michigan State returns for next year -- specifically calling out Jeremy Fears Jr. and Coen Carr.
