Former Peoria Notre Dame all-stater enters NCAA women's college basketball transfer portal

Eastern Kentucky freshman Mya Wardle has entered the NCAA women's basketball transfer portal.

The former Peoria Notre Dame all-stater appeared in 32 of EKU's 33 games, averaging 1.8 points, 1.4 assists and 1.1 rebounds in 14.5 minutes per game. Wardle has three years of eligibility remaining.

Wardle, a 5-foot-7 guard, was named the 2024 Journal Star player of the year after leading PND to the Class 2A state championship during her senior season. She averaged 13.2 points, 6.8 assists and 3.1 rebounds in earning Big 12 Conference player of the year as well as first-team all-state honors by the Illinois Basketball Coaches Association and the Illinois Media.

Eastern Kentucky went 21-12 overall and tied for fourth at 10-8 in the Atlantic Sun Conference. The Colonels ended their 2024-25 season in the ASUN Conference Tournament, losing in the semifinals to top-seed Florida Gulf Coast.
