Brad Brownell and Clemson had their sights set on adding former Valparaiso forward Cooper Schwieger, but the 6-foot-10 sophomore has instead chosen to continue his career at Wake Forest. Schwieger, who visited Clemson last weekend, made his decision official on Wednesday, opting to join an ACC rival for the 2024-25 season.
Schwieger was a key contributor for Valparaiso, starting all 34 games last season while averaging 15.8 points and 7.8 rebounds per game. The 235-pound forward shot nearly 49% from the field and showcased his ability to stretch the floor, though he hit just 30% from three-point range. Over 65 career games, he has averaged 14.5 points and 6.7 rebounds, proving to be a consistent offensive weapon.

While Clemson missed out on Schwieger, Brownell’s staff secured a major win in the portal on Wednesday when former Nevada standout Nick Davidson announced his commitment to the Tigers. Davidson, one of the top-rated bigs in the transfer market, fills a crucial need for Clemson and provides a strong interior presence heading into next season.
