Cooper Kupp makes Rams-Seahawks a top-10 revenge game in 2025

While the 2025 NFL regular season schedule won't be released until May, the matchups between the Los Angeles Rams and Seattle Seahawks should be highlighted on your calendars when the dates are officially set.

Rams-Seahawks was highlighted by NFL.com's Adam Rank as one of the top 10 revenge matchups of 2025. One main reason – the obvious one – is Cooper Kupp. He was released by the Rams on March 12 and will now suit up for their NFC West rivals.

Replacing Kupp didn't take long. In fact, the Rams already had his replacement in the building in All-Pro WR Davante Adams, who signed with the team on March 9.

Cooper Kupp was a Super Bowl MVP for the Rams, who released him this offseason to ... sign Davante Adams? I didn’t realize Aaron Rodgers is actually L.A.'s new QB now. Kidding. Adams was pretty good last year with the Jets (67 receptions, 854 yards and seven TDs), so this really is a smart move for the Rams. On Kupp's end, though, I could see how the 31-year-old, who returned to his roots in Washington when he signed a three-year deal with the Seahawks, would want to show the only NFL team he's ever played for to this point that he's still got it. And he'll have two chances to do so during the regular season.

Kupp spent eight seasons suiting up for the Rams, who made the former Eastern Washington product the 69th overall pick in the 2017 NFL Draft. The veteran wideout emerged quickly as a playmaker in LA, breaking out in 2018 when he caught 94 passes for 1,161 yards and 10 touchdowns. The Rams made the playoffs that year but he was injured, so he missed the playoff run.

Just two seasons later, in 2021, the Rams acquired Pro Bowl quarterback Matthew Stafford in a trade with the Detroit Lions. No time was wasted as Kupp developed into Stafford's go-to guy, and fans witnessed one of the greatest seasons by a wideout in league history. With Stafford throwing to him, Kupp went on to record a triple-crown season, leading all wideouts in receptions (145), receiving yards (1,947), and touchdowns (16).

Kupp's efforts helped the Rams reach the Super Bowl for the second time in three years. Against the Cincinnati Bengals, he recorded 11 receptions for 142 yards and two touchdowns, including the go-ahead score with 1:25 remaining in the final period. The Rams would go on to win 23-20, and Kupp, in addition to being named First-Team All-Pro and Offensive Player of the Year, was named Super Bowl LVI MVP.
