Vote for the Topeka-area's high school Athlete of the Week for March 31-April 5

TOPEKA — The spring sports calendar is well underway and top performers from the capital city are working at a high level. 

Vote for the Capital-Journal’s athlete of the week for March 31-April 5. Voting closes at noon on Thursday, so here are the nominees.

Hara Del Castillo, Topeka High swimming

It was a big week for the Trojans' top swimmer. Del Castillo won the 200-yard IM and 100-yard backstroke in the Topeka High Quad on Tuesday. On Thursday, she returned with a big day winning the 200-yard IM in the Topeka High Invitational.

Kendra Cook, Silver Lake softball

Last week, the Eagles' star pitcher threw a complete game against Holton. She struck out 11 batters and gave up just three hits in the 10-0 win.

Cooper Grace, Hayden baseball

The Nebraska signee has started the season strong. Against Ottawa on Tuesday, Grace hit two home runs and drove in four runs in the Wildcats' 8-1 win. He also threw 5 innings striking out 10 batters.

Isaiah Terry, Washburn Rural track and field

The senior is one of the top 400-meter sprinters in Class 6A. He broke Washburn Rural's record last week at their home meet taking the individual title with a 48.68.

Aubrey Warren, Seaman softball

The shortstop hit for the cycle in Seaman's 10-0 win over Turner. She also collected four hits and three RBIs in the second game over Turner where the Vikings won 8-4 on Tuesday.
