Apr. 7—Athens High School is entering the world of high school flag football, the school announced Monday.
The Golden Eagles announced the creation of a program for grades 9-12 with the intention to play their inaugural season this fall.
The team will be led by head coach Stace Tedford, who has 27 years of coaching experience in basketball, soccer, football, track and field, and softball. He will be joined by assistant coach Chelsea Hurst, head coach of Athens girls soccer, and assistant coach Chuck Smith, head coach of Athens softball.
Tryouts will be Wednesday-Friday with an official schedule for the season to be unveiled soon.
