VOTE: Florida Times-Union High School Athlete of the Week, April 7

The results are in.

Episcopal junior infielder Amelia Oreair is the new Florida Times-Union Athlete of the Week for Northeast Florida high school sports for the 2024-25 season, covering the week of March 24-29 in the Jacksonville area.

She batted .727 with four home runs, a triple and 12 runs batted in during the Eagles' softball victories over Trinity Christian, Jackson and Ponte Vedra, including a three-homer performance against Ponte Vedra.

For the year, she is batting .509 with seven home runs and 29 RBI for an Episcopal team that has won eight consecutive games.

She placed first in a vote of top Northeast Florida performers that included Devin Collins (Oakleaf boys track), Evie Freeman (Bolles girls track), Ar'nayshia Griffin (Bradford flag football), Avabelle Hubbard (Fletcher girls lacrosse), Kylie Kochis (Nease girls tennis), Daniel Sheqi (Global Leadership Academy boys volleyball), Sebastian Stodel (Beachside boys weightlifting), Tristan Straw (Tocoi Creek boys tennis) and Ethan Wheeler (Trinity Christian baseball).

It's time to vote for Florida Times-Union's next Athlete of the Week for the week of March 31-April 5, 2025.

The Times-Union gathers nominees from scores, stats and nominations e-mailed to the sports desk during the week by coaches across Northeast Florida. Coaches can e-mail these stats and scores to preps@jacksonville.com. Deadline to receive nominations is 7 p.m. Saturdays.

This week's voting begins Monday morning and closes at 10 a.m. Thursday. Votes are restricted to once per device per hour. Vote at jacksonville.com/sports.

Here are the nominees for events from March 31-April 5.

Mia Boka, Bishop Kenny girls track

The senior won the discus in a season-best 125 feet, 6 inches and the shot put in a personal-best 36 feet, 9 3/4 inches at the Bolles Sprint-Field Meet.

Colton Hollingsworth, Keystone Heights boys weightlifting

The junior won the 129-pound division in both traditional (440-pound combined lifts) and Olympic (370), helping Keystone to the Region 2-1A team traditional championship.

Charlie Neal, Nease boys tennis

The junior won in both singles and doubles to help the Panthers overcome Bolles in a battle of playoff contenders.

Rommeney Patrey, Bartram Trail softball

The freshman pitcher went 2-0 with 18 strikeouts and one earned run allowed in 14 1/3 innings as the Bears defeated Tocoi Creek, Creekside and Bolles.
