Vote for Louisville-area high school girls athlete of the week before polls close Thursday

The nominees for this week's Courier Journal girls athlete of the week delivered on area softball and lacrosse fields.

Voting is underway for The Courier Journal's girls athlete of the week. The poll closes at 6 p.m. Thursday, and the winner will be announced Friday.

Here are the nominees:

Lily Jones, Male softball

In two games last week, senior Lily Jones hit .714 (5 for 7) with one home run.

Kylie Flathers, Eastern lacrosse

Senior Kylie Flathers scored four goals and recorded two assists in Eastern's 17-1 win over Sayre.

Dakota Phenix, Oldham County lacrosse

Sophomore Dakota Phenix scored eight goals and dished out two assists in two games last week.

Katlyn McDonald, Bullitt East softball

Junior Katlyn McDonald hit two home runs in the Chargers' 10-1 victory over Bethlehem.

Kaylen Newton, Spencer County softball

Senior Kaylen Newton tallied six RBIs and one home run in the Bears' 23-3 victory over Eminence.
