LAFAYETTE — Central Catholic and Rensselaer girls basketball each reached the IHSAA state championships in 1A and 2A in 2024-25.
The season as concluded and it's now time to unveil the 2025 Journal & Courier Small Schools All-Area team.
The top 10 players were voted on by coaches in the Greater Lafayette area which includes five first team members, five second team members and 17 honorable mentions.
Kamri Rowland
Rensselaer, junior, forward
Numbers: 14.9 PPG, 7.2 RPG, 44% FG, 3.1 SPG.
Season: Rowland rose to the occasion during Rensselaer's first appearance in an IHSAA state championship. Rowland led the Bombers in scoring, rebounding, steals and was named to the IBCA Small Schools All-State underclassmen team and first team All-Hoosier Conference. Rowland scored 15 points or more in 20 games this season. Her season high 27 points and 14 rebounds came against North Judson on Nov. 9 and scored 16 points with 12 steals against Western on Jan. 24 and finished with eight double doubles.
Carley Barrett
Central Catholic, senior, guard
Numbers: 14.2 PPG, 8 RPG, 6.2 APG, 5.8 SPG, 45% FG.
Season: Barrett on ball defense and leadership allowed Central Catholic to thrive and reach the program's fifth state title game. Barrett kept opposing guards sequestered and finished sixth in the state in steals. She recorded two triple doubles with 17 points, 11 rebounds and 10 steals against Logansport on Nov. 12. and 16 points, 13 rebounds and 13 ...
