Reynolds, Hood headline 2024-25 Tribune Girls Basketball All-Area team. Who else made it?

The 2024-25 girls' basketball season for the South Bend area will be remembered as an eventful one.

Although no teams made it to the state championship game, one team from each side of the state line ― Marquette Catholic in Indiana, and Brandywine in Michigan ― reached the final four of their respective tournaments. Marquette made the IHSAA Class 1A semi-state championship game, while Brandywine was in the Division 3 MHSAA state semifinals. Different labels, but the same point for each respective state tournament.

Marquette was joined by South Bend Washington (4A), Bremen (2A), and Elkhart Christian Academy (1A) as area IHSAA sectional winners. Edwardsburg claimed an MHSAA Division 2 district crown as well. Elkhart Christian added its first-ever regional championship, while Washington, Bremen, and Edwardsburg saw strong seasons end at the regional round.

Through it all, records were set and several accolades were achieved. One player and one coach stood above the others, though, which has earned them special recognition by the Tribune.

Washington senior Kira Reynolds is the 2024-25 South Bend Tribune Girls Basketball Player of the Year, while Brandywine’s Josh Hood is the Coach of the Year.
