Freddie Freeman described how he managed to injure his ankle by slipping in the shower

We're a few seasons into Freddie Freeman's time with the Dodgers, so he's probably past the awkwardness of facing the Braves. But the Dodgers first baseman hasn't needed to worry about that this week, as he's been out of the lineup for the series against Atlanta.

He has a freak injury to blame for that.

Freeman missed the first two games of the Dodgers' series with the Braves (and will likely be out Wednesday) after he suffered an ankle injury from slipping in the shower. Freeman had surgery on his right ankle in the offseason — the same ankle hurt in this mishap. So, the Dodgers are playing it safe despite the negative X-rays.

Freeman was asked about how he managed to slip in the shower that he presumably uses daily. And he clarified that a leak in his primary bathroom forced him to use a guest bathroom with a shower-tub combination that he was unprepared for.

Thankfully, Freeman was OK despite some swelling. And at the very least, he continued the long, storied tradition of baseball players suffering the weirdest injuries.

Freddie will need to invest in one of these bad boys, though. Just to be safe.
