It was quite the happy Wednesday evening in the Freeman household, as Notre Dame football’s head coach Marcus saw his son, Vinny, make his wrestling commitment.
The younger Freeman was being recruited by home of the top athletic and academic schools in the country, and decided that Cornell would be where he would continue his journey. Vinny achieved an impressive milestone this past season, as he notched win No. 100 of his high school career.
The wresting campaign didn’t go quite how he wanted it to, as Freeman finished No. 3 in the state of Indiana. It was still very successful, and clearly enough for Cornell to want him on their team for the next few years. Vinny also plays football, although he isn’t nearly as big as his father, standing 5-foot, 11-inches and weighing 190-pound during that season.
He wrestles at 175-pounds, so expect to see Marcus on the sidelines in the coming years watching his son following his dreams.
