Trio of Sooners included in ESPN's 7-round Mock Draft

The 2025 NFL Draft is just weeks away, and the Oklahoma Sooners have several players who should hear their names called. The closer we get to draft night, the more clarity we receive about where players might get selected. For the Sooners, Billy Bowman, Danny Stutsman, and Ethan Downs have the best chance to be drafted but where they land is the question.

ESPN's Matt Miller released a full seven-round mock draft (ESPN+), which provides a little clarity as to where the Sooners top defenders in the draft could land.

Billy Bowman No. 98 (3rd round) to the Miami Dolphins

Miami let safety Jevon Holland walk in free agency and added experience with Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis, but Bowman is a playmaker with 4.42 speed and eight interceptions in the past three seasons. - Miller, ESPN

Billy Bowman's athleticism and ball-hawk ability gives him the best opportunity to be taken in the top 100 picks among Oklahoma Sooners. He plays a similar style of football as Tampa Bay Buccaneers safety and former Minnesota Golden Gopher star Antoine Winfield. If Bowman can improve his consistency as a tackler, he'll have a long and successful career in the NFL.

Danny Stutsman, LB - No. 141 (5th Round) to the Tennessee Titans

The production is there. The speed and athleticism are there. So why is Danny Stutsman not considered any higher than a fifth-round draft pick? Well, some of it concerns the devaluing of the inside linebacker position in today's NFL. Only six inside linebackers were projected to be taken ahead of Stutsman. There are some concerns about his ability in coverage. But as teams like Detroit, San Francisco, and Baltimore lean more into the run game, Stutsman would be a great fit for defenses looking to combat the resurgence

Ethan Downs, EDGE - No. 212 (6th Round) to the Baltimore Ravens

Nobody helped himself more at the NFL Scouting Combine than defensive end Ethan Downs. His tape is strong. He's a really good run defender, but he showed off his athleticism and strength when he put up good numbers in Indianapolis. Defensive coordinators are going to love having Ethan Downs as a part of their defensive line rotation. Baltimore would be a fantastic fit.
