2025 NFL draft: ESPN's Field Yates addresses popular positions in two-round mock

ESPN's NFL insider Field Yates has released his latest two-round mock ahead of the 2025 NFL draft.

In that range, the New York Jets have two selections: Picks No. 7 and 42.

Heading into the draft, two of the Jets' largest needs are offensive tackle and tight end. Prospects from both positions have been mocked to New York with the team's Round 1 pick.

While Olu Fashanu was New York's first-round selection a year ago, another tackle is needed with veterans Morgan Moses and Tyron Smith no longer on the roster. At tight end, the departure of Tyler Conklin leaves a group of players that leave something to be desired.

In Yates' mock, both of those positions are addressed... but in which order?

Here's how ESPN's insider has the Jets in his latest 2025 mock draft:

Round 1, pick 7: OL Armand Membou, Missouri

Yates' breakdown:

The free agent signing of Justin Fields means the Jets have a quarterback solution for at least 2025. But the loss of Morgan Moses in free agency means they have a hole at right tackle. New York already had pass-protection issues, finishing 23rd in pass block win rate last season (57.1%).

Membou had a meteoric rise in 2024, as the 20-year-old dominated in the SEC with tenacity, elite movement skills and pass protection proficiency. He can be a tone-setter up front, joining Olu Fashanu to give New York a pair of talented young OTs.

Round 2, pick 42: Mason Taylor, TE, LSU

Yates' breakdown:

I considered Tyler Warren for the Jets at No. 7 before going with Membou. So picking Taylor one round later makes sense to fill a hole at tight end. He has exceptional hands and can handle in-line blocking duties.
