North Carolina reached out to a plethora of transfer portal targets in the spring portal. Some of them have progressed; some moved on quickly. One of the later additions to the portal, Jarin Stevenson, is returning to his home state of North Carolina after a commitment on Sunday night to Hubert Davis and the UNC basketball program.
Out of high school, Stevenson was a four-star recruit with a 94 rating on 247Sports. He was the No. 50-ranked national player and the No. 11-ranked power forward in the class. North Carolina was one of his finalists out of high school before he eventually chose Alabama. Now, the Pittsboro, North Carolina, native is heading home.
Last season, Stevenson averaged just 5.4 points and 3.4 rebounds per game. He shot 42.9 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from the three-point line, and a mediocre 59.7 percent from the free-throw line. He would be considered more of a stretch four than a power four.

However, that is what Hubert Davis needs. He already has incoming five-star freshman Caleb Wilson, who will likely be the team's starting power forward. Davis also brought in one of the highest-rated centers in the portal, Henri Veesaar from Arizona. UNC is quietly going from one of the worst to one of the best frontcourts in the ACC.
After the team moved on from Kanon Catchings, the BYU transfer, it is looking like the portal targets are wrapping up for North Carolina unless a surprise occurs. Without a doubt, this is the best transfer class UNC has had, regardless of potentially losing Ian Jackson in the process.
