The North Carolina Tar Heels still have a few big needs to address before the transfer portal closes down for good this offseason. And even after adding three players, UNC needs to find a way to improve the roster even more.
One player the Tar Heels were connected to was forward Kanon Catchings, the former four-star recruit who spent one season at BYU before entering the portal. North Carolina was considered the favorite to land him ahead of his visit this past weekend. But now, things are going in a different direction.
Per Tar Heel Illustrated, the Tar Heels have moved on from Catchings in his recruitment and will look elsewhere to fill that need.
BREAKING: #UNC & Kanon Catchings update. Carolina has moved on from him, per source very close to the situation. More here....https://t.co/7ad2HMPdippic.twitter.com/ShWyORo2eV

As noted above, this news comes after Catchings visit and it's stated that it was North Carolina's decision to move on from him. That leaves some questions to be answered.
Does North Carolina get a good feeling that Drake Powell is coming back? Was the NIL ask too much? Do they have another target? Time will tell on that front but for now, we do know that UNC is moving on in this recruitment.
