One of the top Edge prospects in the 2026 class has announced the dates for his spring visits, and the Texas Longhorns made the cut. Four-star edge Jamarion Carlton will be in Austin for an unofficial visit on April 12. It will be a chance for Steve Sarkisian to show Carlton why he would be a good fit in the program.
Over the last two seasons, Carlton has showcased his potential. He has 86 total tackles (52 solo), eight sacks, and four pass deflections in that span. During most of that stretch, Carlton has been on varsity and thrived in high pressure situations.
While Carlton is projected to be a Longhorn, according to On3, that hasn't stopped other programs from reaching out. During his spring recruitment tour, the Texas native will also visit Texas A&M, Baylor, and SMU. Any one of those programs would get a huge boost to defense with Carlton in the lineup.聽

As Carlton has seen his stock rise, he has impressed scouts nation wide, including 247Sports Scouting Analyst Gabe Brooks. When talking about the 2026 recruit, Brooks said he is, " "physically and athletically gifted front-line defender who could play from the edge in the long run, or bulk to a true defensive lineman thanks to immense frame space."
At the moment, the Longhorns 2026 recruiting class is ranked as the tenth-best in the nation. However, they claimed the No. 1 class of 2025 after the most recent recruiting cycle closed and are looking to replicate their success. Adding Carlton would help raise their rankings.
With no decision date set, the Longhorns will have a prime opportunity to give Carlton their best pitch possible in April.
