Longhorns lose WR DeAndre Moore Jr. for spring drills to injury
With the start of the 2025 college football season only months away, the Texas Longhorns got unfortunate news before the start of spring ball. They will be without veteran wide receiver DeAndre Moore Jr. this spring, according to On Texas Football's CJ Vogel. With Moore on the sidelines, Texas will have their depth tested.
As Arch Manning prepares to lead Texas to its first title since Vince Young was behind center, he will be helping the Longhorns' young wide receivers get experience. That list includes five-star wide receiver Kaliq Lockett, four-star Jaime Ffrench, who was at one point a five-star, and the No. 1 athlete in the country, Michael Terry III. While that trio is full of potential, they will be looking forward to Moores's return.
Last season, the California native hauled in 39 receptions for 456 yards. He was a popular target in the redone with seven touchdowns. Regardless of who was under center, Moore found a way to get open and had some big moments in the postseason.

With Moore sidelined, Ryan Wingo will be the only WR or TE on the roster this spring who has recorded a reception in their college career. As a result, Wingo will have to take more of a leadership role, but it is a challenge he is ready to face.
Although the Longhorns will have to get creative, they have enough talent to hold things down until Moore is healthy. There will be more opportunities for Aaron Butler and Parker Livingston. Last year, they had to battle for reps with Isaiah Bond and Matthew Golden, who have both entered the NFL Draft.
Over the next few weeks, the Longhorns will face their first blow of adversity before the start of what should be a promising 2025 campaign.
