Texas Longhorns to get Spring visit from Five-Star TE Kaiden Prothro
As the Texas Longhorns look to add to their offense, they have secured a visit from one of the top tight ends in the 2026 class. This spring, Kaiden Prothro will make the trip to Austin. He is ranked as the 30th-best player in the nation in his class by On3. They also rank Prothro as the third-best tight end.
The Longhorns will be one of the five schools that Prothro visits. That list also includes Georgia, Alabama, Florida, and Auburn. After a trip to Georgia to start his recruiting tour on March 22nd, Prothro will be in Texas the week after. That will allow Steve Sarkisian to make the Georgia native a pitch he can't turn down.
While Prothro will have plenty to consider, Texas has had success with tight ends. Gunnar Helm is expected to hear his name called in the NFL Draft later this year. That comes after Ja'Tavion Sanders became a fourth-round pick after his time with the Longhorns. That is something that could help Texas in their efforts to land Prothro.
When you talk about the nation’s top TE’s The first guy who comes to my mind is Kaiden Prothro 6‘7“ 216 Bowdon,GA. After meeting him and watching his film I have no doubt he is a legit 5* talent. Shows impressive ball skills and a rare catch radius.@ProthroKaiden 3.8 GPA. pic.twitter.com/rnTJ6jQQta

Although there is plenty of time left to add to the 2026 class, Prothro would be a huge get for Texas. Their 2025 recruiting class was ranked as the best in the nation. The Longhorns are looking to earn the top ranking again in 2026 but only have a few commitments at the moment.
Even though no decision date is set for Prothro, his interest in the Longhorns is real. He has already scheduled an official visit with Texas on June 20th. He has also set a second visit with other schools in his top five, but the Longhorns seem to be a serious contender. Now, the focus will be on convincing Prothro that Texas is the best place for him to play college football.
