Who was the Jackson area boys athlete of the week for March 10-15? Vote in our poll
It’s another big week of TSSAA sports in the Jackson area.
Three area teams, Humboldt, JCM and South Side, are playing in the TSSAA boys basketball state tournament set for Wednesday-Saturday at Murphy Center in Murfreesboro.
Meanwhile, baseball and soccer teams are getting into the thick of the season with some big games and big performances coming from around the area.
It’s time to vote for who was best last week using the image at the end of this story. Fans are able to vote for the Jackson area boys athlete of the week once per hour until the poll closes at 5 p.m. on Thursday, March 20.
Congratulations to JCM basketball’s BJ Ballard, who won last week’s poll with 7,234 (64.1%) of 11,278 votes.
Here are this week’s nominees for the Jackson area boys athlete of the week.
Adam Ables, Milan soccer: Ables scored a goal and notched two assists in the Bulldogs’ 9-0 win over Bruceton on Tuesday.
Cade Allen, South Gibson baseball: Allen, a Tennessee baseball commit, totaled six RBIs on five hits and picked up a one-inning save with a strikeout in the Hornets’ 3-2 win over Chester County on Thursday.
Cross Burgess, North Side baseball: Burgess hit a two-run walk off single to defeat Madison, 7-5, on Monday as he totaled three RBIs on two hits.
Garrett Clark, Madison baseball: Clark drove in four runs on two hits in the Mustangs’ 11-5 win over Greenfield on Thursday.
Christopher Cerda, Crockett County soccer: Cerda scored two goals in the Cavaliers’ 6-3 win over Lexington on Tuesday.
Dean Estes, Chester County baseball: Estes struck out 13 batters in the Eagles’ 12-3 win over McKenzie on Tuesday.
Gray Eubanks, Huntingdon baseball: Eubanks, a Southern Miss signee, totaled five hits and five RBIs including a home run in Friday’s 14-4 win over Dresden.
Brady Fronabarger, Crockett County baseball: Fronabarger struck out nine batters in three innings of a 7-0 win over McKenzie on Monday and hit a 2-run home run in Wednesday's win over South Side.
Chase Garner, Chester County baseball: Garner totaled three hits, finishing a triple shy of the cycle, and three RBIs in the Eagles’ 12-3 win over McKenzie on Tuesday.
Ryder Harville, Hardin County baseball: Harville, a MTSU signee, struck out eight batters and recorded a RBI in the Tigers’ 8-1 win over North Pontotoc on Thursday.
Braydin Jones, USJ baseball: Jones totaled four RBIs on three hits in the Bruins’ 10-1 win over Westminster Christian Academy on Wednesday.
Caleb Jones, Liberty baseball: Jones totaled three hits and two RBIs in the Crusaders’ 16-6 win over Humboldt on Monday.
Easton Jones, Jackson Christian baseball: Jones recorded three hits, including two doubles, in the Eagles’ 8-2 win over West Union (Mississippi) on Thursday.
Troy Joslin, Union City baseball: Joslin struck out 12 batters in a complete game effort, adding two hits and a RBI, in the Golden Tornadoes’ 13-3 win over Lake County on Monday.
Roy Macias, Madison soccer: Macias recorded six saves, including a penalty kick attempt, in a 1-0 win over Chester County on Friday.
Brodie McDaniel, Bradford baseball: McDaniel drove in two runs and had a double in the Red Devils’ 9-2 win over Camden on Tuesday.
Tucker McMahan, McNairy Central baseball: McMahan totaled three hits and two RBIs in the Bobcats’ 14-1 win over Riverside on Friday.
Easton Sullivan, Greenfield baseball: Sullivan had three hits and two RBIs in the Jackets’ 12-1 win over Gleason on Monday then added two RBIs and 14 strikeouts in six innings in Tuesday’s 9-2 win over Gleason.
Tanner Walters, Bruceton baseball: Walters totaled four RBIs on three hits in the Tigers’ 16-9 win over South Fulton on Tuesday and added three more hits and three RBIs in Friday’s 12-2 win over West Carroll.
Carter Winders, Crockett County baseball: Winders drove in three runs on two hits to lead the Cavaliers to a 9-7 win over Chester County on Thursday.
