Where do Jaguars land in ESPN's post-free agency power rankings?

Following the NFL's free agency frenzy, where do the Jacksonville Jaguars now rank in ESPN's very early power rankings?

New GM James Gladstone has quickly reshaped what the Jaguars roster looks like. Before free agency was even underway, Gladstone traded Christian Kirk and released Evan Engram, along with three other players.

Then, once the NFL's legal tampering period opened, Gladstone quickly made nine free-agent additions on that first day, and he's now made 10 signings in total.

"What we were seeking to do in pro free agency was to raise the floor of this football team and every player that we pursued and that we've now acquired is meeting that standard," Gladstone said.

So, with that in mind, where do the Jaguars now fall in ESPN's power rankings?

The Jaguars entered free agency ranked 26th and they now sit at 28th. Obviously, ESPN wasn't impressed by the additions made.

With that said, as Gladstone said, his goal here was to raise the floor of the roster. Doing that doesn't require making splash additions but instead consists of bolstering the competition and depth throughout the roster.

In addition to that, unlike past years in Jacksonville, where free agency has come with big additions, both in quantity and salary cap hits, Gladstone also maintained cap flexibility both for this season and beyond.

When it comes to those high-impact additions, those are more likely to come through the draft,t where the Jaguars have 10 picks and with this being the avenue for how Gladstone primarily wants to go about building his roster.

There have been plenty of instances where under-the-radar moves in the offseason end up paying off big--just look at the 2024 Philadelphia Eagles--and plenty of instances where splash signings don't pay off.
