OXFORD — Ole Miss football has two breakout candidates at tight end in 2025.
Senior tight end Dae'Quan Wright is coming back to Ole Miss after ending the season on a hot stretch. In light of tight end Caden Prieskorn graduating, coach Lane Kiffin brought in Arkansas transfer tight end Luke Hasz. Wright said Tuesday he's expecting plenty of snaps in 12 personnel, where two tight ends play.
"Twelve personnel helped the offensive line last season," Wright said. "I think it will be great this season as well."
Adding Hasz makes Ole Miss' tight end room an exciting piece of the offense.
After catching eight passes in his first five games as a Rebel last season, Wright caught 19 passes over his last five games. His best game was against Hasz's Razorbacks when Wright caught nine passes for 99 yards and two touchdowns.
Hasz had an electric start to his college career in 2023. He had six catches for 116 yards and two touchdowns in his first SEC game against LSU but broke his collarbone in the next game. Last year, Hasz finished with 26 catches for 324 yards and four touchdowns.
“Luke is a good worker and comes with the same mentality every day,” Wright said. “He’s a great leader in our room. Together is going to be good with the experience and ability.”
Both players have a similar build. Wright is 6-foot-4 and 255 pounds. Arkansas listed Hasz at 6-3, 241 pounds.
"I think that's a really good combination there," Kiffin said. "(Wright and Hasz) are two guys that have both played extremely well in this conference. Dae'Quan had a great year last year. Really came on when he was healthy late in the year. Luke has done a really good job for two years over there. It was good to add him."
