STONEWALL — The Coalgate Lady Wildcats rallied from an early 8-1 deficit to stun Roff 9-8 in eight innings Saturday at the 2025 Beast of the East Tournament.
Roff had survived on Friday with a pair of victories. The Lady Tigers, ranked No. 5 in Class A, dumped Davis 10-5 before surging past Ada 18-11.
Coalgate, No. 16 in Class 4A, edged host Stonewall 11-10 in another thriller on Friday. Kiowa — ranked No. 3 in Class A — eliminated the Lady Wildcats with a tense 14-12 victory Saturday afternoon.
Coalgate 9, Roff 8
The Lady Tigers scored five runs in the top of the third inning and one more run in the fourth to surge to an 8-1 advantage.
Coalgate held Roff scoreless over the final four frames. The rally included four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning which tied the game at 8-all and the Lady Wildcats scored the game-winner in the bottom of the eighth.
Coalgate’s Natalie Delozier led off the eighth inning by reaching safely on a two-base error. She tagged up and went to third on a fly out by Jolie House. After Olivia Nelson was sent to first base via a one-out intentional walk, Delozier scored the game-winner on a sacrifice fly to left field by Neveah Parker.
Roff threatened in the top of the eighth inning after Payton Smith and Madison Smith led off with back-to-back walks. After Coalgate recorded two outs, Jaycee Presley walked to load the bases. But the Lady Tigers failed to get a runner home.
Coalgate piled up 18 total hits in the game but oddly enough, none went for extra bases.
Alison Wolfenbarger led CHS at the plate, going 4-for-4 with a walk and three runs scored. Cire Walker finished 3-for-4 with three RBIs and Jojo Lambert also had three hits, scored a run and knocked in a run.
Nelson had a pair of hits, a walk and scored twice for the Lady Wildcats and Parker finished 2-for-5 with two RHBIS and a run scored.
Roff ended up with seven hits, led by Maygan Hill who went 2-for-4 with three RBIs. Payton Smith drove in a pair of runs and Emma Hardison went 1-for-3 with two walks and two runs scored. Jaxie Newby drew three free passes and scored twice for the Lady Tigers.
The Lady Tigers drew 12 total walks but left 11 runners on base.
Roff 10, Davis 5
The Lady Tigers snapped a 3-3 tie with a six-run outburst in the top of the fifth inning.
Roff stacked up 18 total hits, led by Jaycee Presley who went 4-for-4 with a triple, an RBI and three runs scored. Breylea Pinley finished 3-for-4 with an RBI and a run scored and Sophie Eldred went 3-for-4 with a triple, three RBIs and a run scored.
Emma Hardison went 2-for-4 with a double and three runs scored and Jaxie Newby ended up 2-for-4 with a triple and a run scored. Keela Scott hit a double and scored a run for Roff.
Davis collected 10 hits, including a 2-for-2 effort by Kamryn Martin. She doubled, drove in two runs, walked and scored once for the Lady Wolves.
Emerson Henley had two RBIs for Davis and Adison Ryan went 2-for-3 with an RBI. Allie Hobbs also had two hits for the Lady Wolves.
Kiowa 14, Coalgate 12
Coalgate trailed 12-7 before scoring five times in the bottom of the sixth inning — thanks to a three-run homer by Olivia Nelson and a two-run shot by Jojo Lambert — to tie the score at 12-12.
The Cowgirls scored what turned out to be the game-winning run on a Coalgate error and added an insurance run via a sacrifice fly from Kinley Jenson.
Coalgate compiled 17 hits, including a 3-for-4 showing by Nelson. She drove in four runs. Nevaeh Parker finished 2-for-5 with five RBIs and blasted a three-run homer in the bottom of the first inning.
Natalie Delozier finished 3-for-4 with a double and three runs scored for the Lady Wildcats. Taci Lee had two hits and Jolie House scored twice.
