And the nominees for the week of April 7 are:

Cole Barnes, Ashley High School

“Ashley baseball welcomed Hoggard to ‘The Nest’  and walked out of the contest winners of 11 consecutive games to start the season,” the nomination said. “Cole Barnes picked up his third win of the season and also had 2 RBIs at the dish. He pitched a complete game (101 pitches), scattering 4 hits and striking out 6 Vikings.”

Julius Rogers, West Brunswick High School

Brett Riggs nominated Julius Rogers. "He's a good kid who works hard every day on a variety of different responsibilities,” Riggs said. “He sets a good example to others and deserves recognition for his hard work and determination."

Ja’Zir Wright-McGhee, New Hanover High School

Teacher Miranda Lancaster nominated Ja’Zir Wright-McGhee, sophomore. "Ja’Zir is a great student, athlete and all around just a great kid," Lancaster said. "He is a leader for students on the court and off the court. As a sophomore, he plays on the varsity basketball team and traveled to the regional and state championships this spring. Off the court, he has taken on a more difficult course load this semester and has put in a lot of effort to keep his grades up. All around, Ja’Zir always has a positive attitude and puts a smile on everyone’s face."
