The Oklahoma Sooners came away with a dominant victory over the Iowa Hawkeyes on Monday afternoon. The 34-point win was the second-largest in program history and the largest margin of victory since 1995. Against her alma mater, head coach Jennie Baranczyk pressed all the right buttons for the Sooners, leading them to an emphatic statement win over one of the better programs in the nation.
Despite falling behind in the early going, the Sooners used a 16-1 run to completely take control of the game and never looked back. Sahara Williams layup with just over three minutes left in the first quarter gave the Sooners a 12-10 lead and they would lead for the remainder of the game.
Despite shooting just 11% from three, Oklahoma used their massive rebounding edge to pull out to an 11-point halftime lead. Oklahoma then put together a fantastic third quarter to all but seal the victory, outscoring the Hawkeyes by 14 points to lead by 25 going into the fourth quarter. The Sooners were so locked in during the final frame that they nearly led by 40 points over a team that's been to the final four in recent years.
It was a statement win for the Sooners as they move on to the Sweet 16, and here's how social media reacted to the win.
