The New Orleans Saints have expressed interest in many different prospects this offseason, and with the 2025 NFL draft growing ever nearer, some of the interest could be more substantial as visits and private workouts become more notable. Their Ohio State pipeline has continued to be strong over the years, and it seems that 2025 may be no different if their recent meeting is any indication.
In a recent article by Tony Pauline of Sportskeeda, he detailed many of the notes from Ohio State's recent pro day and discussed some of the notable visits and interest from around the event. One of the players he discussed was defensive back Lathan Ransom and tied his name to the Saints.
"Ransom is a cornerback/safety hybrid who isn’t a liability playing over the slot receiver. He spent time with the New Orleans Saints, who have shown an interest in the defensive back," Pauline wrote.
He also shared information regarding how Ransom performed at the pro day workouts, stating he had a 4.53-second 40-yard dash, 36.5-inch vertical jump, 10-foot-1 in the broad jump, and 20 reps in the bench press. That combined for an 8.84 Relative Athletic Score.
Ransom was extremely productive in 2024, as in 15 games he put up 76 total tackles (46 solo, 30 assisted), 9 tackles for loss, 1 sack, 1 interception, 2 pass deflections, a conference-leading 3 forced fumbles, and 1 recovery which led to a touchdown. This production shows he can apply his solid athletic traits to the field, and find success across various parts of the game. He could most certainly be someone to watch for come April when the Saints' picks roll around.
