No team is immune to some adversity throughout their season, and Oregon baseball is feeling its fair share of adversity right now.
The Ducks traveled to Columbus this past weekend to face the last-place and winless Ohio State team, but they lost two of three to the Buckeyes.
Oregon captured Game 1 of the series 7-0 on the strength of starter Grayson Grinsell and four homers from the Duck bats. The road team was well on its way to another successful series, but then Saturday's doubleheader came along and it was ugly.
The Ducks scored a total of 18 runs in the two games, but it wasn't enough as the Buckeyes took Game 1 by the score of 11-10 and the nightcap 8-6 despite having shortstop Maddox Molony belting out four home runs during the twinbill.
As a result, Oregon dropped in the polls. It is now No. 15 in the D1Baseball poll and No. 12 in the USA TODAY Coaches poll. The Ducks are still 20-7 overall and 8-4 in Big Ten action.
Oregon goes to Portland on Wednesday for a single game before hosting Michigan this weekend for the first time in history.
