Saints schedule official pre-draft visit with Texas QB Quinn Ewers

Now this is interesting. Longtime New Orleans Saints beat writer John Hendrix reports for Athlon Sports that the black and gold are hosting a quarterback on one of their 30 official visits before the 2025 NFL draft: Texas Longhorns prospect Quinn Ewers.

He's someone the Saints have done a lot of work on. Ewers first met with the team during a formal interview at the NFL Scouting Combine, and later joined several teammates for dinner with head coach Kellen Moore and other Saints staffers before his pro day. Moore watched him throw there, too, and now they'll have time for more in-depth conversations at the team headquarters in Metairie. We should note that a couple of new additions to the Saints' defensive coaching staff worked against Ewers every day when Terry Joseph and Bo Davis were at Texas, too.

Ewers is projected to be picked as early as Round 2 or as late as Round 4; he could be in play when the Saints are on the board with either of their third-round choices, though picking him at No. 40 in the second round feels too soon. While Ewers never really met expectations as a top high school recruit, he did compete hard at Texas and fended off challengers like Arch Manning while leading his team to the College Football Playoff. Maybe a pro coaching staff can get more out of him than his college coaches did.
