Colts hosting early-round CB prospect on official 30 visit before NFL draft

The Indianapolis Colts will be hosting East Carolina cornerback Shavon Revel on an official 30-visit, according to Ryan Fowler of The Draft Network.

Each draft cycle, every team is able to have up to 30 prospects in for visits at the team facility. It's an opportunity for teams to do medical checks if needed, walk through film, and get to know the player.

Revel is coming off a torn ACL that he suffered during the 2024 season. Fowler added that on Revel's visit with the Colts, the team will conduct a medical re-check.

With the injury, Revel was limited to just three games in 2024, but was off to a fast start, allowing just eight completions on 21 targets with two interceptions and a pair of pass breakups.

The 2023 season was Revel's first year as a starter. The 6-2 - 194-pound cornerback surrendered a completion rate of only 44%, 13.2 yards per catch, and had 10 pass breakups along with one interception, according to PFF. Opposing quarterbacks had a passer rating of just 61.2 when targeting him.

For more on Revel, here is a look at what NFL.com's Lance Zierlein wrote in his scouting report:

"Big, long and fast are the physical descriptors that stand out for the East Carolina corner. Revel is leggy when matching press release but he’s disruptive once he gets his hands on the wideout. He plays upright in man coverage, tends to allow small pockets of separation due to his high center of gravity and still needs improvement when it comes to finding and defending the deep ball, despite his ability to stay in phase with vertical routes."

The need at cornerback for the Colts has greatly decreased with the addition of Charvarius Ward in free agency, not to mention that adding veteran Corey Ballentine helped bolster the depth. But with that said, it's not as if the cornerback spot is off limits either, especially if we are going to see more dime personnel under defensive coordinator Lou Anarumo.

Revel is the 43rd overall ranked prospect on PFF's big board and the sixth best cornerback.
