HC Mike Tomlin says Steelers could draft QBs Will Howard, Riley Leonard, or Quinn Ewers

Despite shooting down the notion of having a Plan B or C in place if the potential 2025 starting quarterback of the Pittsburgh Steelers, Aaron Rodgers, retires—Mike Tomlin still painted a few draft-day hypotheticals.

During the 2025 Annual League Meeting, Tomlin shared which quarterback prospects have recently been in the Steelers’ crosshairs:

"Omar and I just got off on a nice tour here last week, where we were at Notre Dame, Ohio State, and Texas, for example—our last three trips. I think all three of those institutions have quarterbacks that are draft eligible."

The prospects in question are Notre Dame QB Riley Leonard, Ohio State QB Will Howard, and Texas QB Quinn Ewers—all three of whom are considered to be available on Day 3 of the 2025 NFL Draft.

Riley Leonard is arguably the most athletic of the three options, Quinn Ewers has the best raw talent in terms of arm strength, and Will Howard is the most proven prospect—winning the national championship in 2024 with the Ohio State Buckeyes and throwing for nearly 10,000 yards in 50 collegiate games.

The odds that the Pittsburgh Steelers walk away with one of these prospects feel astronomically high, while the hypotheticals surrounding a potential first-round selection of Ole Miss QB Jaxson Dart or Alabama QB Jalen Milroe seem far-fetched.
