Formerly recruited as a wide receiver, and now being pursued as a defensive end, Columbus (Ga.) Carver edge rusher Tristian Givens returned to campus on Saturday to take in Florida State's second scrimmage of spring camp.
"All of the kids had a smile on their face as they were making plays. Offense and defense going back and forth, being competitive," Givens said on his impressions of the scrimmage.
The Florida State coaching staff and Givens keep in contact "pretty often" and he got to see them in action during Saturday's scrimmage.
"Just the relationship that they've got on the field — between each other — that's what I was really paying attention to," Givens said.
Having previously been a receiver, it's no surprise that Florida State sees Givens at the JACK position in Tony White's defense.
"I think I'd fit great. Coming off the edge and setting it for them," Givens said.
Givens visited Florida State in January for a junior day visit and intends to be back on campus again as soon as possible. Givens has no official visits yet but Florida State seems prime to get one.
"How everybody is so close, everybody is like a family," Givens said on what keeps him coming back.
The Seminoles are one of the schools that are recruiting Givens the hardest at the moment, with Tennessee, Texas A&M and USC rounding out the four. Givens has visited all of them except for the Trojans.
Including Florida State, those four schools are the ones in the best position to get an official visit from Givens, who plans to take 3-4 this summer.
As it stands now, the Seminoles have done well to keep one of their top defensive end targets coming on visits.
