Report: Bears to host TE Tyler Warren on top-30 visit

The 2025 NFL Draft is less than a month away, and for the Chicago Bears, it's still anyone's guess as to which direction they will go with the No. 10 overall pick. As the draft draws closer and closer, however, more clues are coming out as to who the Bears might target in the first round.

One possibility is Penn State tight end Tyler Warren, who rose up the ranks after a stellar senior season. The Bears appear to be intrigued by the tight end and reportedly plan to host him for a top-30 visit. According to NFL draft analyst Tony Pauline, the Bears are one of three teams that plan to bring in Warren for a visit. The Indianapolis Colts and the New York Jets are the other two.

Top-30 visits are always worth noting when it comes to prospects teams are interested in, but Warren's is particularly notable. The star tight end did not work out at the NFL Combine in Indianapolis, nor did he participate in Penn State's pro day last week. Warren appears to be focusing on just a few teams heading into the draft, and the Bears are one of them.

Warren is one of the top tight ends in this year's draft after finishing off his Penn State career with a stellar season. The 22-year-old caught 104 passes for 1,233 yards and eight touchdowns in 16 games for the Nittany Lions. His 1,233 yards were the second-most for a tight end in the FBS last season, trailing only Harold Fannin Jr. of Bowling Green.

The Bears haven't drafted a tight end since they selected Cole Kmet in the second round of the 2020 NFL Draft. Kmet has been a solid player at the position for five years, but finding someone to complement him has been a challenge. Chicago could be looking at Warren to give them a stellar 1-2 punch at the position in Ben Johnson's offense in the short term, while setting them up with a dynamic tight end for the long term. Drew Smythe is the only other player at the position on the roster at this point.

As Pauline notes, not everyone has Warren as their top tight end, and selecting him No. 10 overall could be a bit of a reach. We'll see how much interest the Bears have in him, but at the very least, he's someone on their radar.
