Mar. 31—MORGANTOWN — Baseball Morgantown: MHS stands at 3-3 after a weekend in Huntington and a trio of matchups. The Mohigans defeated Cabell Midland 13-5 on Thursday behind 11 hits. Jackson Bredeson hit a double and a triple in the win.
The victory was followed by a pair of one-run losses on Friday and Saturday. MHS fell to St. Albans 4-3 while outhitting the Red Dragons 7 to 3. An 11-10 defeat to Spring Valley followed on Saturday as the Mohigans allowed six runs in the bottom of the seventh inning.
MHS travels to John Marshall on Tuesday evening before hosting University on Thursday at Dale Miller Field.
University: After opening the season 1-4, UHS won three straight games over the weekend, downing Parkersburg South 7-6, then sweeping a doubleheader on the road against Hampshire (11-9, 9-1) to improve to.500.
Brance McCune went 3 for 3 with four RBI in game one against Hampshire on Saturday. Daniel Grabo went five innings on the bump in game two, allowing only one hit and one run and striking out six batters.
Preston: The Knights fell to 2-2 on the 2025 campaign with an 11-4 defeat to Mountain Ridge (Md.) on Friday. Preston will travel to Bridgeport on Tuesday before heading home to host Grafton on Thursday.
Clay-Battelle: Clay-Battelle improved to 3-2 with a decisive 19-1 win over Paden City on Friday. The Cee-Bees produced 18 hits. Austyn Foley went 4 for 5 with six RBI, and Kooper Statler joined him with four hits. Statler also pitched all five innings, giving up only one hit and fanning ten Wildcats.
C-B hosts Valley on Wednesday.
Trinity Christian: The Warriors fell to 4-2 on Saturday, losing by one run to Notre Dame, 5-4 in the bottom of the seventh inning.
TCS will travel to Paden City on Tuesday.
Softball Morgantown: MHS went 3-4 in seven games in Myrtle Beach last weekend to stand a 5-5 this season. MHS will travel to Linsly on Monday (the score will be updated) and square off with rival University on Lynch Field on Friday evening.
University: UHS remains unbeaten in its 2025 campaign, outscoring opponents 49-6 in those five games. The Hawks defeated John Marshall 7-3 last Thursday before earning a 10-0 win over Petersburg on Saturday.
UHS will host Preston on Wednesday before welcoming Morgantown across the Mylan Park complex for a rivalry matchup.
Preston: PHS fell to 1-4 over the weekend with shutout losses to John Marshall (11-0) and Buckhannon-Upshur (8-0). The Knights travel to Bridgeport on Monday (the score will be updated) and UHS on Wednesday.
Clay-Battelle: The Cee-Bees fell to 1-4 on Friday with a 15-0 loss to Magnolia and will host a trio of games this week against Trinity Christian, Madonna, and West Greene.
Trinity Christian: The Warriors dropped a pair of contests to Bridgeport (Oh.) on Saturday (3-1, 6-5) to fall to 2-2. TCS will host Clay-Battelle on Monday before visiting Tygarts Valley on Wednesday.
Boys Lacrosse Morgantown: MHS improved to 4-0 on the 2025 season with a 10-6 victory over Spring Mills on Friday on the road. The Mohigans have outscored their opponents 77-20 so far and will aim to continue their hot start against North Hills (Pa.) on Thursday at Pony Lewis Field.
University: The Hawks improved to 4-2 on Saturday afternoon with a 10-3 victory over Martinsburg on Baker's Ridge. Maxwell Walked led UHS with three goals and three assists, with Aidan McClintock adding a trio of scores as well. Ty Jordan-Egnot and Will Harper scored two goals, with Nicholas Joseph adding the final goal. UHS returns home on Wednesday to host John Marshall at 6:00 p.m.
