The Texas Longhorns baseball team has been on a roll so far this season. At 23-3 overall and now 8-1, the Chris Del Conte hiring of new baseball coach Jim Schlossnagle looks to be paying off big time. The Horns kept it going up in Missouri this weekend, sweeping the Tigers in three games 15-4, 7-4 and 7-1.
The teams moved Sunday's game up and played a double-header on Saturday to avoid severe weather. Schlossnagle said his team handled the condensed schedule well. “Just super proud of our team. They played 25 innings in 36 hours,” he said. “It’s a lot of baseball. It’s a lot of competition.”
Texas hit 10 home runs in the series, four by center fielder Will Gasparino. The UT bats were on fire, outscoring Mizzou 29-9 in three games.
UT did pick up some injuries in Columbia. Schlossnagle says he's hopeful Catcher Rylan Galvan, RB Max Belyeu and DH Adrian Rodriguez will be back on the field soon.
The Longhorns have won six straight games and will take on Texas State at 6:30 p.m. Tuesday at Disch-Falk Field.
