AC Milan continue to be linked with a move to bring Sandro Tonali back to the club, but Juventus seem to be the ones putting the wheels in motion.

According to La Gazzetta dello Sport, there are some similarities between Milan and Juventus in the sense that both sides are looking to build an Italian-led core heading into next season, and Tonali has all the directors in agreement.

One thing that Juve could boast which the Rossoneri almost certainly will not be able to is qualification for the 2025-26 Champions League. That being said, Newcastle United are still going to want at least €60-70m to even consider selling Tonali.

It is a mountain of money that Juventus hope to try mitigate by expanding the operation and including a player as a counterpart, like Douglas Luiz who is valued at €35-40m. Federico Gatti is another candidate, while Dusan Vlahovic might be offered up as a replacement for Alexander Isak.

The Bianconeri have already had indirect contacts with Tonali and are hoping to swat him. At the moment the former Brescia man ‘is not obsessed with returning to Italy, but the thought surfaces every now’ and then and Juventus ‘will do everything’ to tempt the Italian.

It remains to be seen if Milan – who are in a state of flux without a sporting director and no certainties regarding the head coach – would stand by and let Tonali go to Juve. A recent report from CaughtOffside stated that the Diavolo are keen on bringing him back.
