The Washington Commanders are hosting private workouts and meetings with prospects as the NFL draft approaches, and the latest prospect signals that Washington could be looking for competition at the kicker position.
According to Gaby Urrutia of 247Sports, the Commanders hosted a private workout Tuesday afternoon with one of the top kickers in the draft, former Miami Hurricane Andres Borregales.

Borregales is one of the top kickers in the 2025 NFL Draft.
The workout "went great" according to Borregales' agent Shawn O'Gorman with First Round Management. He tells me the Commanders had Andres go through the typical workout, which consisted of field goals and kickoff sessions, and concluded around 3 pm ET. This isn't Washington's first meeting with the top draft prospect. The Commanders also met with him at the Shrine Bowl back in January.
Washington needs consistency at the kicker position after a season of trades and signings for new kickers for various reasons. Zane Gonzalez re-signed with the Commanders on a one-year deal in free agency, but they could still bring in fresh legs to compete during camp for the starting spot. Borregales finished his final season at Miami going 18 for 19 in field goal attempts with a career-long of 56 yards, and made all 62 extra point attempts as well. The former Hurricane is well on his way to being drafted in April, and seems to be a key target for the Washington Commanders.
