Washington Commanders general manager Adam Peters created and cultivated a team in his first season that we haven't seen in the NFL in a very long time. Forget Washington's history, if you look at league history, when was the last time an incoming head coach under an incoming general manager with a rookie quarterback had a season like we just witnessed?
The problem is that now everyone expects the Commanders to be at the top of their game, they expect this team to do great things and to exceed last season's record. The only way to do that is to make a Super Bowl appearance, which isn't out of the question despite how out of place the Commanders looked against the Philadephia Eagles. And the Commanders have answered the call during the offseason, surrounding Jayden Daniels with weapons and protection in 2025.
Because of the offseason activity they've already had, Peters was recently asked if trading down was still an option.

"Everything's an option depending on the value of the player, right," Peters answered. "And the player and the value, so you never want to close that door. It would be our preference to not do that, but it just depends on the situation. I think in terms of where we're looking, I think we can look anywhere now. Our staff did a great job of accomplishing by targeting players at all these positions and free agency and signing our own guys and getting the trades, our staff did a great job of helping us fill all those spots. So, we could go play today, if we wanted to, and I think we'd be pretty good today, honestly. That gives us the flexibility to go wherever we want to go."
So, while it may not be the Commanders' first choice to trade down from 29, it's definitely not off the table. It would depend on what another team is offering for that spot and how the Commanders view the value of that offer. Given how much they did in free agency, they certainly have the flexibility to play the draft however they want and still field a good team.
