The Tennessee Titans face several important decisions with the No. 1 overall pick in the 2025 NFL draft. Will they make the pick or trade it? And if they keep the selection, will they use it on a quarterback or a position player?
Titans head coach Brian Callahan made it clear that the team hasn't made its final decision yet.
"We're open to everything at this point," Callahan told reporters at the NFL's annual league meeting Monday. "We've been consistent with that approach from the get-go."
Callahan acknowledged the value of selecting a potential franchise quarterback atop the draft.
"If it's something you feel is beyond the value you ever thought you could get, that's one thing," Callahan said, addressing the potential of trading the No. 1 pick. "But then you also have to look at – what does a potential franchise quarterback look like? If you think they're that good and they're that type of player, those guys, to me, are priceless."
The Titans presently have three quarterbacks on their roster: 2023 second-round pick Will Levis, who posted an 81.4 passer rating last year, and journeymen Brandon Allen and Tim Boyle. Many NFL analysts have cited Tennessee as a quarterback landing spot because of the team's lack of an established starting quarterback.
That's why Miami quarterback Cam Ward has become the consensus No. 1 pick in most NFL mock drafts. The 22-year-old met with the Titans in person and Callahan complimented his combination of starting experience in college and playmaking "flashes."
Still, Callahan noted Tennessee has work left to do on other top draft prospects. Notably, he mentioned the team would be keeping a close eye on Colorado's pro day, where quarterback Shedeur Sanders – who the Titans have met with and hosted during draft season – and Travis Hunter will work out.
