Basketball history was made in Class 4A in 2024-25 by multiple teams with Wossman, Archbishop Hannan and Vandebilt Catholic leading the way. Now the same schools headline the Louisiana Sports Writers Association’s Class 4A All-State teams.
Drew Timmons of Select Division II champion Hannan was selected as the Outstanding Player on the boys squad, while Wossman’s Anyra Wilson garnered the same recognition on the girls side after leading her team to a Non-Select Division II title.
Vandebilt Catholic coach Jerwaski Coleman netted girls Coach of the Year honors, while Wossman’s Casey Jones earned his first coach of the year honor in roughly a decade.
Wilson averaged 13.6 points, 3.6 rebounds and 3.3 assists per game for a Wossman squad that dominated opponents, winning playoff games by an average of 44 points. It was their fourth straight state championship, making them the first team in Ouachita Parish to accomplish that feat since 1936-39.
Timmons, already voted the Louisiana Gatorade Player of the Year, averaged 21.4 points, 9.5 rebounds and 2.4 assists per game while leading Hannan to a second Select Division II title in four years.
Meanwhile, Jones netted boys Coach of the Year honors after his team won a second straight state championship with a team that featured three new starters. WHS became the first boys basketball program from Ouachita Parish to win back-to-back state titles.
Vandebilt Catholic won a girls title, the school’s first since 2010, with Coleman claiming top coaching honors for the girls. VCHS’ championship run came one year after the school forfeited an LHSAA tourney berth due to an academically ineligible reserve player.
