The Miami Dolphins will host Penn State safety Kevin Winston Jr. on a pre-draft visit, according to Barry Jackson of the Miami Herald.
Winston stands 6'2, 215 pounds and reportedly ran a 4.5 second 40-yard dash at his pro day last month. That workout was big for the former Nittany Lions defensive back who played in only two games in 2024 before suffering a season-ending knee injury.
That injury, and Winston's decision to forgo his senior season at Penn State, means that the talented safety is headed to the NFL without a ton of collegiate experience. While he played 506 defensive snaps in 2023, Winston played just 188 snaps in the 2022 and 2024 seasons combined.
Winston finished his collegiate career with one interception, one forced fumble, 3.5 tackles for loss, and 53 tackles.
The Dolphins overhauled their safety room this offseason, allowing starters Jevón Holland and Jordan Poyer to both reach free agency. In their place, Miami signed free agents Ifeatu Melifonwu and Ashtyn Davis to compete with 2024 sixth-round pick Patrick McMorris and special teams ace Elijah Campbell.
