The Boston Celtics should consider sitting Jaylen Brown for the remainder of the regular season. The All-Star forward is dealing with a bone bruise, which appears to be limiting his on-court ability. Brown has been less explosive in recent games and has been hunting more midrange shots rather than attacking the rim. The bone bruise will likely impact his ability to operate as a point-of-attack defender, too.
Over the past few years, Brown has also been dealing with knee tendinopathy, which is something he will likely need to continue managing throughout his career. While the bone bruise isn't directly linked to his knee issues, the two do go hand-in-hand when worrying about his ability to be at or near 100% once the playoffs begin.
During an April 4 episode of the "Celtics Chronicle," hosts Adam Taylor and Billy Calabrese discussed whether Brown will be ready once the playoffs begin and the value of resting him now, rather than allowing him to continue playing through the pain barrier. The duo also touched on Boston's overall injury concerns heading into the postseason. Jrue Holiday, Kristaps Porzingis, and Sam Hauser have all dealt with injuries throughout the season and could be playing closer to 80 or 90% during the playoffs.
