Chase Burns, Reds top prospect, makes pro debut, strikes out first batter Max Clark

Cincinnati Reds pitching prospect Chase Burns made his pro debut Friday night for the High-A Dayton Dragons against the West Michigan Whitecaps.

Burns retired the order in the bottom of the 1st inning. He struck out the first batter he faced, Detroit Tigers outfield prospect Max Clark.

Burns also struck out the side in the bottom of the 2nd, giving him four strikeouts through the first six batters he faced.

MLB Pipeline ranks Burns the Reds' top prospect, and ranks Clark second among the Tigers' top prospects.

Burns didn't pitch professionally in 2024 after the Reds made him the second overall pick in the 2024 MLB draft.
