South Carolina and UConn must face off once again to determine the who will emerge as the women's NCAA Tournament national champion.
Dawn Staley, Joyce Edwards, Te-Hina Paopao and the Gamecocks will take on Geno Auriemma, Paige Bueckers and the Huskies in the national championship game at 3 p.m. on Sunday from Amalie Arena in Tampa, Florida, for the national championship.
South Carolina will seek to become the first repeat champions since UConn won four in a row between 2013 and 2016. The Huskies defeated the Gamecocks 87-58 earlier this season in Greenville, South Carolina.
Behind a 22-point performance from freshman Sarah Strong, UConn easily defeated UCLA 85-51 on Friday. Azzi Fudd added 19 points and eight rebounds, while Paige Bueckers had 17 points. The Huskies are seeking their first national championship since 2016.
Earlier in the evening, South Carolina defeated Texas 74-57. It was the fourth matchup between the new SEC foes. Paopao led the Gamecocks with 14 points, while Edwards pitched in 13 points, 11 rebounds and six assists off the bench.
