Chickasha girls soccer blows out Ada 7-1

The scoring started early and often for the Fightin’ Chicks in their blowout win.

Chickasha’s girls soccer team beat Ada 7-1 Tuesday at home in Chickasha. The Fightin’ Chicks were able to score almost at-will in the first half, then were able to cruise through the rest of the match.

Chickasha coach Justin Croke said the Fightin’ Chicks’ competitive spirit is what has led them to multiple fast starts, like Tuesday’s match, in multiple games this season.

“I think when the girls go out there they seem to be really up for the games when it comes to game time,” Croke said. “They seem really ready to go and I think the first 15 minutes is just them working off of their own pure energy that they’ve created on their own. We’ve got a lot of really competitive girls on the team. It goes way farther than soccer, like you play the girls in rock, paper, scissors and they don’t want to lose. So, it’s really good to have those girls on the team.”

Lainey Jones scored the first of five first-half goals for the Fightin’ Chicks in the second minute. Two minutes later, Austin Clift scored and she was able to score again in the 11th minute as well. Brynlie Alexander scored twice in the 20th and 24th minutes for a scramble for the ball at the goal.

In the second half, Callie Crawford scored in the 48th minute and Brylee Eaton scored in the 70th minute.

The Fightin’ Chicks’ win improves their record to 9-4 and another district victory. Up next for the Fightin’ Chicks is an out-of-district game Friday at Community Christian School in Norman and will be back home next Tuesday against Madill in a district game.

Croke said to continue the momentum his team has built the past few weeks is to continue meeting the expectations set by the staff at a high standard.

“For me, it’s just keeping the standards up,” Croke said. “We hold the girls to such high standards and what I’ve noticed with the girls is that we realize that they are more capable than they are of themselves. I tell them, ‘I believe in you. I don’t care who is in front of you. I really believe that you’re able to win every game,’ and I think they’ve bought into it and I think it’s shown on the field.”
