Where Clemson players rank in PFF's update 2025 NFL Draft Big Board

Four Clemson players have earned spots on Pro Football Focus’ latest Top 300 NFL Draft Big Board, though not all are currently projected to be drafted in a national seven-round mock. Still, their inclusion on the list highlights the Tigers’ continued presence in the NFL pipeline — even in a draft class that may not feature a first-round name.

Barrett Carter leads the way among Clemson prospects, ranked No. 133 overall. The athletic linebacker has long been seen as a high-upside player thanks to his speed and versatility. PFF’s Trevor Sikkema believes Carter could be a valuable weapon at the next level — if he can bulk up.

“While he needs to get stronger, Carter is an athletic, versatile defender who can be a valuable chess piece for a defense as a weakside linebacker,” Sikkema wrote.

Tight end Jake Briningstool checks in next at No. 158, and evaluators continue to see him as more of a hybrid receiving threat than a traditional tight end. His receiving ability has been on display throughout his Clemson career, and he projects as a mismatch option in the passing game.

“Briningstool seems to be more of a wide receiver than a tight end,” Sikkema said. “If he can improve his route-running nuance and playmaker mentality after the catch, he could become a big slot WR3 type. Until then, he is more of a developmental depth player.”

Two more Tigers appear further down the rankings. Safety R.J. Mickens comes in at No. 240, and running back Phil Mafah follows at No. 260. Mickens was a steady presence in the secondary and brings experience and positional flexibility. Mafah, meanwhile, is a physical runner who closed out the 2024 season strong after taking on a bigger workload.

Although all four players made the Top 300, only three Clemson players are projected to be drafted in one recent national seven-round mock — a reminder of how competitive the late rounds can be. Still, all four are expected to draw NFL interest, whether it’s on draft weekend or as priority free agents shortly after.

While this year’s group may not be as headline-grabbing as past Clemson draft classes, there’s plenty of talent on the board. Carter, Briningstool, Mickens, and Mafah each bring something unique to the table — and all four have the chance to find a home at the next level.
